Typhoon today! The students didn’t have to come today, but teachers did. It was either go in and do jack shit or take nenkyuu. I decided to go in and be useless. It was fine because, rather than being super busy, the teachers were only moderately busy, so it gave me a chance to talk to them a bit. Plus, I spent literally every period yesterday either in class with the same teacher (Ohashi-sensei) because he has all four first year classes and one of the second year classes. I was scheduled for first year, but he invited me to the second year class as well. For the last period, there was an assembly thing.
The music teacher at my base school (Tanaka-sensei) has an awesome daughter about my age. I know her through another ALT and through her mother haha. Anyway, the daughter has planned a trip to DC in December. It’s been planned for a while, and just a few weeks ago, she booked some stuff. Well, with the government shutdown, pretty much everything in DC is closed. She particularly wants to go to the Smithsonian, and that’s definitely closed.
I was looking up news on the shutdown again today, and told Tanaka-sensei about what I’d found (practically nothing), and we talked about the fact that America is being stupid right now. She decided that I should stay forever. She also decided that I should marry a Japanese guy and stay. She and Hayashi-sensei agreed. In comes one of my JTEs, who is a bit younger than me, single, and pretty hot ok. They pointed to him and were like, “you should marry Ohashi-sensei.” To this, I nervous-laughed and he got REALLY flustered. XD
I didn’t tell them that I would totally date him.
After telling another ALT in the area about the conversation, we had an entertaining half-joking-half-seriousish conversation about how I should just shack up with her in Canadia but also (her words) I should COURT him. I replied that I’d already done the picking on him thing, soooo.
BUT ANYWAY. The head JTE told me to go home like 2 hours early, so I did. No idea if there’s school tomorrow, but we’ll see. The plan was yes, last I heard, but the typhoon hit later than expected, I think.
